StereoPanner

How to use the plugin

Load the plugin into your preferred Digital Audio Workstation (I use Ableton Live 9).

See the screenshot below illustrating the controls.

StereoPanner controls

The controls are summarised as follows:

Pre Gain (L), Pre Gain (R)

These individually boost the left and right input channels, respectively, before panning is applied.

Pan (L), Pan (R)

These pan the (pre-boosted) left and right hand input channels, respectively, to any desired arbitrary position in the output stereo field.

So, for example setting Pan (L) to -1 (its default value) keeps the contents of the (pre-boosted) original left input channel fully on the left. Setting Pan (L) to 0 would place the contents of the (pre-boosted) original left channel into the middle i.e., split equally to the left and right output channels. Setting Pan (L) to +1 would place the contents of the (pre-boosted) original left channel fully to the right output channel.

Likewise, for example setting Pan (R) to +1 (its default value) keeps the contents of the (pre-boosted) original right input channel fully on the right. Setting Pan (R) to 0 would place the contents of the (pre-boosted) original right channel into the middle i.e., split equally to the left and right output channels. Setting Pan (R) to -1 would place the contents of the (pre-boosted) original right channel fully to the left output channel.

Post Gain (L), Post Gain (R)

These individually boost the left and right output channels, respectively, after the panning has been applied.
